Dr. Judith Calvo

Our CEO, Dr. Judith Calvo, possesses a doctorate from Stanford University and has over 20 years of experience in research, data analysis, and program evaluation. When it comes to research and evaluation, her most significant contributions are in the areas of behavioral health, substance abuse, and maternal and child health. Developing data infrastructures where none exist is her forte, as well as adeptly navigating complex data to derive critical insights that lead to better client outcomes. Thanks to her strong leadership skills, organizations have been able to stand apart from others in strong data driven decision making.
In a landscape where data-driven decision making is essential for transformative change, her expertise aligns with organizations dedicated to making a lasting impact on the lives of their clients and the communities from which they come.

Having solid research, applied statistics and evaluation background, the following roles highlight her accomplishments:
• Directed Outcomes and Evaluation department, which encompasses evaluation of all behavioral health programs.
• Developed and implemented the internal evaluation program—inclusive of hiring, training and mentoring staff, development of evaluation goals, objectives, and data collection mechanisms.
• Developed internal evaluation program goals and objectives. This entailed working to ensure that our evaluation framework and initiatives reflected required and existing resources, services, and outcomes.
• Designed data collection infrastructure based on Power BI to track both contract and outcome key performance indicators.
• Crystal Reports development and deployment for both outcome and process monitoring.
• Conduct and supervise the statistical data analysis of the outcome data and analysis of the service dosage and duration data that is housed in the company’s electronic medical records system.
• Use of Excel, SPSS, R and STATA to conduct statistical analysis of client data and outcomes.

As Director of Research and Evaluation at FIRST 5 Santa Clara County, she was pivotal in the growth of FIRST 5’s solid research and evaluation department in these ways:
• Developed FIRST 5’s evaluation program goals and objectives and led a team of researchers.
• Designed data collection procedures and improved existing processes and procedure, implementing Persimmony and the Family Development Matrix for case management in differential response, putting in place consistent data collection, storage, and reporting structures across all major initiatives.
• Responsible for evaluating the Kid Connections Network outcomes and service delivery evaluation. As such, she conducted all the statistical data analysis of the outcome data and analysis of the service dosage and duration data that was housed in the Santa Clara County Unicare Mental Health data system.

The emphasis of her life work has been on maternal, child and adolescent health, behavioral health, and developmental outcomes in fragile and high-risk families. She is a pioneer in evaluation and her company embodies research, evaluation, and social justice as a calling in life.

Her strategic initiatives optimize program evaluation methodologies, enhancing social and behavioral health outcomes measurement and improvement.
